Intimate Universe

Early environmentally-focused projects were about the land, perhaps because I grew up on a cattle ranch.  I often rode my horse, searching for Native American arrowheads and collecting interesting rocks.

I had started reading about our environmental problems. The extent of plastics pollution, particularly bothered me and led me to explore the issue personally. For a few months, I collected trash on the walk to my psychotherapy office. I knew there would be lots of pizza boxes since I live near Worcester Polytechnic Institute, but I was surprised at how much trash there was and how much of it included  plastics.

Intimate Universe incorporates many tiny pieces of plastic. I was afraid, however, to say that in my artist statement about the series since, even at the end of the first decade of the 2000s, there were so many more climate change deniers.
